Work on the YFC terminal construction project continues, with additional precautions to ensure safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. BIRD Construction, which is leading the project, has implemented a comprehensive program to ensure the health of workers and compliance with the provincial state of emergency.

On April 22, YFC’s new check-in hall and a section of the departures lounge will open to the public and passengers. The departures entrance will return to its original location at the front of the terminal.

The new hall will provide a streamlined experience and more space. Upon entering the terminal, the airline check-in counters are straight ahead. The new baggage drop and security areas are now more efficiently located. The new space will also make it easier for travellers and staff to ensure proper physical distancing during the pandemic. As work continues on the project, the following changes are necessary to accommodate construction:

• Drop-off, taxis: Passenger drop-off is located where short-term parking used to be, directly in front of the departures entrance. The taxi queue is also located here.
• Parking: Both short-term and long-term parking are in the long-term parking lot.
• Food service: The café is closed temporarily, however vending machines are available.
• Arrivals: Beginning the week of April 27, arriving passengers will be taking a new route to exit the airport, and will be exiting near the car rental kiosk.

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, YFC is actively responding to current needs and challenges while also looking ahead. The airport will play a vital role in New Brunswick’s economic recovery, and our team is working hard to ensure the airport is able to continue to provide essential services as well as to prepare for the recovery period.
