A world of opportunities: YFC’s airline partners can take you wherever you want to go

It’s official: summer is here, and we’re entering our busiest travel season at YFC. The terminal is buzzing with locals and visitors alike. And we’re seeing more travellers than ever, with year-to-date traffic already up 3.9% over last year.

Now in our 10th straight year of record-breaking passenger numbers, YFC is one of the fastest growing airports in Atlantic Canada. In 2018, for the first time, more than 400,000 passengers flew through here, up almost 7% from the previous year.

This incredible growth is possible because of our airline partners – Air Canada, WestJet, Porter and Sunwing.

As the country’s largest carrier, Air Canada’s network is vast. With numerous daily flights out of YFC to Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and Ottawa, connections to the rest of Canada and the world are limitless.

Meanwhile, WestJet recently moved its morning flight to an earlier timeslot, giving local business travellers another option for a same-day trip to Toronto. It also opens up even better connections to WestJet’s North American and European network, including destinations like Barcelona, London, Kelowna, and Fort Lauderdale.

And Porter’s daily service to Ottawa and downtown Toronto continues to be hugely popular. The flight touches down in Ottawa, where Toronto-bound passengers simply stay on the plane before continuing on to Billy Bishop Airport on Toronto Island.

We all know summer doesn’t last forever, so we’re already planning for a great seasonal roster of sun destinations. Sunwing has just released its winter schedule for 2020, with flights from Fredericton to balmy Cancun, Cayo Coco, Cayo Santa Maria, and Punta Cana.

Demolition begins for the Fredericton International Airport's terminal expansion (July 2019)We’ve been working hard to accommodate all this growth. Our ambitious terminal expansion project got off to a smooth start in May, kicking off the biggest project in YFC’s history. The new terminal, which is expected to be completed in 2021, will open up even more opportunities for travellers, and make room for even more growth. For details on changes during construction, check out our expansion project website.
