FROSTival Old Fashioned Skating Party
January 30, 2014
With the temperature just a bit below freezing and light fluffy snowflakes falling, January 25, 2014 was the perfect day for an Old Fashioned Skating Party at historic Officer’s Square in downtown Fredericton.
Our team was delighted to hand out hot chocolate, mulled cider, and cookies to the skaters as well as collect donations for the Fredericton Food Bank while the Alex Bailey Swing Band kept the energy up for the skaters.
Thank you to everyone who came out to join us, to Ginger Designs for helping organize us, and especially to everyone who brought a donation for the food bank!
- The 2014 FROSTival Old Fashioned Skating Party was held at Officer’s Square in downtown Fredericton.
- The FIAA FROSTival team: Derek, Mike, Faye, and Kate.
- Faye & daughter Alex contemplate her cookie options. (All of them were delicious!)
- The skating party had a great turnout, with an estimated 300 skaters enjoying Officer’s Square during the hour. The Alex Bailey Swing Band kept things moving with some excellent music, too!
- Skaters of all ages and abilities had fun in this historic setting!
- The giant photo frame is staying up in Officer’s Square for all of FROSTival – why not pop down and take your photo like this family did?
- FIAA employees Derek Libby, Mike Ripley & his wife Diane, and Faye Downing volunteered to hand out cookies, cider & hot chocolate to the skaters and to collect donations for the local food bank.
- Derek draws the winner for the basket of goodies from the Fredericton Boyce Farmer’s Market – everyone who brought a donation for the food bank to the skating party was entered to win.
- Sharon Eldridge was the lucky winner of the basket! Congratulations Sharon, and thanks for donating to the food bank!
