Terminal expansion proceeding smoothly
On-track for January opening of new check-in hall
YFC’s historic terminal expansion project is on-time and on-budget, thanks to the hard work of the construction team, which includes many local contractors. The airport is on-track to open its new check-in hall in January, making it the first section of the project to be unveiled. When the entire project is completed in 2021, we will have expanded YFC’s terminal by 50% and given your airport facilities a modern upgrade.
YFC thanks all our passengers and everyone who works at the airport for your patience during this major renovation.
Out in the community, excitement is building around the project. We spoke recently with Kim Nash-McKinley, director of economic development at Saint Mary’s First Nation, and Steven Hart, chief administrative officer of the Town of Oromocto, who spoke about what a bigger, better YFC will mean to them and their communities.
We also have an update on construction from Jordan Sorenson, a project manager with Bird Construction.
Meanwhile, a new direct flight option to Toronto launched on October 27 – Air Canada is upgrading its flights from YFC to Toronto Pearson, offering Rouge service to Fredericton. That means faster flight times, more comfort, and premium economy options. WestJet also changed their flight times this summer to provide improved connections to the US and Caribbean, and the option for business travellers to do same-day trips to Toronto. For travellers headed to Ottawa, Porter flies daily – and if you’re headed to downtown Toronto, check out their option of flying into Billy Bishop Airport! And if the chill in the air has you thinking about a trip south this winter, check out Sunwing’s 2020 itinerary. Starting in February, it will offer direct flights from YFC to sun destinations in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba.
As construction continues, we’ll continue to keep you updated on any changes. For more on YFC’s terminal expansion project:
