Fredericton International Airport Runway 15-33 Extension Project

Aerodrome Work Community Consultation Notification as per Canadian Aviation Regulations Part III, Subpart 307

Location and purpose

The Fredericton International Airport is located in Lincoln, NB and provides services for domestic/international carriers and other private operators utilizing Runway 09-27 and Runway 15-33.  Runway 15-33 is the secondary runway and is proposed to be extended from 6,000ft to 7,000ft to improve usability of the Airport as well as to allow continued operation of the Airport when the primary Runway 09-27 is rehabilitated in the future.

The Project

  • Extension of Runway 15-33 by 1,000 ft on the Eastern end including new pavement line markings.
  • Grading improvements along the length of the runway extension.
  • Installation of additional runway edgelights and relocation of runway end/threshold lights.
  • Installation of a Runway End Safety Area (RESA) on the Eastern end.
  • Tree cutting to the East of the runway to facilitate an improved instrument runway approach.

Timeline

The work is proposed to commence in the summer of 2025 and be completed by winter 2025. Comments in regards to the project are welcomed during the public consultation period between February 3, 2025, until March 21, 2025.
