Strong demand drives another positive year at YFC

Strong demand, expanded air service and continued regional support are helping carry the Fredericton International Airport (YFC) into another positive year in 2025.

At its Annual General Meeting, the Fredericton International Airport Authority (FIAA) highlighted another strong year, reflecting growing demand for air travel in New Brunswick’s Capital Region. Passengers at YFC increased 4.4% in 2025 compared to 2024.

“2025 has been a year of strong growth for the Fredericton International Airport,” said President and CEO Johanne Gallant. “As our focus remains on providing safe, reliable and convenient air service, we are encouraged by the continued support of our community and the opportunities ahead for YFC.”

Air service continues to expand at YFC. Air Canada will operate daily flights to Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa with increased capacity. Porter will increase service in summer 2026, operating two daily flights to Ottawa as well as one daily flight to Billy Bishop Airport in downtown Toronto. WestJet has also announced it will fly four times weekly between Fredericton and Calgary this summer. Sun service at YFC is expected to expand for the 2026 – 2027 winter season, with service from Sunwing Vacations, operated by WestJet, and Air Transat.

At YFC, safety remains a top priority. In 2025, the airport authority completed several important infrastructure improvements, including the secondary runway extension project. The airport authority is planning for the resurfacing of its primary runway in summer 2026.

Looking ahead, YFC marks its 75th anniversary in 2026. This milestone will be an opportunity to reflect on the airport’s history while continuing to build for the future and serve the region with safe, reliable and convenient air service.
