Fredericton International Airport traffic up 23 per cent

Traffic continues to soar at the Fredericton International Airport (YFC) with 23 per cent more passengers travelling through the airport between January and July compared to the previous year.

YFC’s modern new terminal building provides travellers with comfort, local food pre-and post-security, charging ports at almost every seat, and amenities such as nursing rooms and water bottle refill stations. The airport’s traffic has grown substantially each year since 2021, and the continued trend echoes the airport’s increasing air service, including new flights, new airlines, and larger planes.

“This ongoing growth speaks to how vibrant our community is and the variety of air services here at YFC,” says Johanne Gallant, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority. “Air travel is essential for our economy, and we’re proud to welcome business, leisure, and military travellers to this modern new building which is an ambassador for our region.”

Non-stop destinations include Montreal, Calgary, Toronto Pearson, Toronto Billy Bishop, and Ottawa. All three airlines offer excellent connections for travel onward from these hubs allowing travellers to connect worldwide.

“YFC is an essential service and an integral part of the economic development, tourism, immigration services and growing employment opportunities in our community and the province,” says Morgan Peters, CEO of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce. “The remarkable growth that the city of Fredericton and the Capital Region is experiencing, along with the rapidly expanding needs of local and international businesses, means that air access will continue to be a priority for Chamber members.”

Sunwing flights to sun destinations of Cayo Coco, Cayo Santa Maria, Cancun, and Punta Cana are also bookable now for the winter 2025 season.

With a strong record of growth and a new terminal building, the Fredericton International Airport (YFC) is a comfortable and modern gateway for all of New Brunswick and is the home airport for Fredericton’s Capital Region. YFC is home to four airlines serving nine destinations, including Canada’s largest hubs, connecting New Brunswick to the world. Community is the heart of YFC, and the airport is proud to be an active partner in key local events as well as supporting the tourism sector. Over 20 companies, employing more than 400 New Brunswickers, operate at the airport—making it a key economic pillar of the region.
