WestJet service to Fredericton next summer jumps 41%
WestJet announced today that it is increasing flights by 41% on its route from Calgary to the Fredericton International Airport (YFC) for summer 2025.
Flights begin May 15, 2025, and operate until October 7, 2025. Service will be twice weekly and increase to three times weekly during July and August. This extended season and increased frequency during the busiest months means that WestJet will almost double the number of flights compared to their inaugural season in 2024, which saw flights twice weekly from the end of June until October.
“Having WestJet almost double its service to YFC next year speaks to strong demand during its first season,” says Johanne Gallant, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority. “Travellers chose to fly through YFC on this route in 2024, and that directly led to this increase in service. This is great news for our tourism sector, business travellers, and our region’s quality of life. Our community has strong ties to Alberta, and we’re excited to be able to welcome even more visitors to the Fredericton Capital Region in 2025.”
With non-stop service between New Brunswick’s Capital Region and Calgary, the flight also offers New Brunswick travellers the ability to connect from YFC to WestJet’s network via Calgary.
“WestJet’s return to Fredericton this summer is great news,” said David Seabrook, Director of Tourism for the Fredericton Capital Region. “It’s going to provide direct access to the West for Fredericton region residents and the expanded season gives us the opportunity to continue to open up Alberta as an important tourism source market.”
