YFC shows Harvest heart

Each September, the Harvest Music Festival transforms downtown Fredericton through the sounds of blues, rock, jazz, folk and more. One of the most anticipated international East Coast music events of the year, the streets brim with excitement from street performers, patrons, and vendors.

Many great musicians have strolled through Fredericton’s terminal; CATSA Screening Officer and music enthusiast Sean Callahan remembers watching legendary blues guitarist and singer George “Buddy” Guy perform at Harvest 15 years ago, and the next morning, he met Buddy at work as he flew through the Fredericton Airport.

“Harvest is an absolutely amazing event for the community, volunteers and for socializing,” says Sean. “It’s a great time for everyone—the music is fantastic.”

Inspired by Buddy, and other talented musicians, Sean became a volunteer for the next 15 years. Now, he sits back, relaxes and enjoys the shows with his friends from the audience.

This year’s festival runs from September 10-15. With over 400 musicians, 150 performances, 27 stages, and both paid performances as well as free programming for all ages, this Fredericton festival is a crowd favourite, and an event the Fredericton International Airport Authority is proud to sponsor.

“We at Harvest Music Festival are thrilled to announce our continued partnership with YFC for 2024!” says General Manager Courtney Steeves. “Having an international airport just 15 minutes from our festival grounds is a tremendous advantage, and we are grateful for the unwavering support and collaboration from such a community-focused organization.”

In addition to sponsoring the festival, the Fredericton airport will be presenting a Harvest at YFC Music Series. Keep an eye on our socials for more details!
