Fredericton International Airport celebrates National Airport Workers Day
The Fredericton International Airport (YFC) joined a Canada-wide celebration on June 26 for Airport Workers Day to acknowledge the dedicated year-round efforts by airport workers.
“There are over 20 companies operating at YFC, collectively employing over 400 New Brunswickers,” says President and CEO Johanne Gallant. “These dedicated people work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep travellers on the go, respond to forest fires, train pilots, welcome private aircraft, and keep our skies safe.”
The Fredericton International Airport Authority hosted a lunchtime event with local food trucks, prizes, and elected representatives from municipal, provincial, and federal governments were on hand to thank these hardworking teams.
“By celebrating the dynamic and diverse people who work in our airports, we aim to shine a light on the many career opportunities that are possible within Canada’s aviation sector,” said Monette Pasher, President of the Canadian Airports Council. “Airport Workers Day represents our gratitude for the more than 200,000 people who work, day in and day out, to keep Canadians and our economy moving.”
“Our airport plays a key role in our local economy, providing worldwide connections and contributing to our region’s prosperity,” says Gallant. “Our success is thanks to our airport employees who continue to keep our airport and economy moving, safely and efficiently.”
