Fredericton International Airport Launches Interactive Digital Mapping Platform, Becoming First in New Brunswick to Implement GoodMaps
Fredericton International Airport (YFC) announced today the launch of GoodMaps, an accessible digital mapping and navigation platform that transforms how travellers interact with the terminal. YFC is the first airport in New Brunswick to implement GoodMaps’ innovative service.
The GoodMaps mobile app provides real-time, turn-by-turn navigation throughout the terminal in 18 languages, including English and French. The system works through a combination of precise mapping technology and smartphone capabilities, and offers:
- Audio guidance for those who are blind or have low vision
- Visual and text directions for deaf or hard of hearing travelers
- Step-free routing options for those with reduced mobility
- Structured routing for neurodiverse individuals
- Multilingual navigation support
“We want the Fredericton International Airport to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for every traveller,” says Kate O’Rourke, Manager of Public Relations and Marketing for the Fredericton International Airport Authority. “We’re excited to launch GoodMaps and empower more people to independently explore and navigate the airport.”
“This implementation aligns with our mission of empowering vibrant communities while embracing innovation,” notes Johanne Gallant, President and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority. “We’re proud to be the first airport in the province to offer this level of digital navigation and accessibility.”
