A first-class experience for all

Airports are gateways to the world, connecting friends, families, and businesses; creating a welcoming environment for everyone is essential. Fredericton International Airport (YFC) has a new modern terminal, with features such as braille markings, automatic doorways, and ample space to navigate for travellers who are using assistive devices such as wheelchairs.

Accessibility goes far beyond this, though—read on for more ways YFC creates a positive and inclusive environment.

Service animal relief area

Travellers who are accompanied by a service animal have access to two service animal relief areas. There is one conveniently located in departures, and one just outside the terminal. Please remember to clean up after your service animal—bags are provided at each location.

Learn what to expect before you arrive!

A great resource for kids with neurodivergence who want a first-hand experience of the process of walking through of an airport—before they get to their airport—is the video above, created by our colleagues at Ottawa International Airport Authority, in partnership with CHEO.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program items.Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program is a voluntary program where travellers can wear a Sunflower lanyard during their travels to discreetly indicate to airport staff that someone may need extra support, assistance or time when travelling through the airport. YFC has adopted the Sunflower Program, along with over 300 airports around the world and 18 airlines worldwide.

Family washrooms and private nursing rooms

Every bathroom in YFC’s terminal is accessible. In addition, parents can use YFC’s two private nursing rooms, located in arrivals and in departures. Families and individuals seeking a private and accessible washroom will find one in both arrivals and departures.
